2011/03/06

Q: Brazilian Foreign Minister Patriota has recently paid an offcial visit to China. It is reported that the purpose of his visit is to make preparation for the upcoming visit by Brazilian President Rousseff. How does China comment on the outcome of Foreign Minister Patriota's visit?

A: At the invitation of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Brazilian Foreign Minister Patriota paid an official visit to China from March 2 to 4. During the visit, Premier Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held meetings and talks with him respectively, having in-depth exchanges of views on China-Brazil relations as well as international and regional issues of common interest. Both sides are satisfied with the comprehensive and rapid development of bilateral relations over the past years and will make active preparations for Brazilian President Rousseff' s upcoming visit to China. We believe that the visit will lend an impetus to the development of China-Brazil strategic partnership in the new era and give a boost to the cooperation among emerging powers.

Viewing each other as a strategic partner and sincere friend, China and Brazil will maintain close high-level exchanges and expand communication and cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, science and technology, people-to-people and cultural exchanges on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual benefit. Hand in hand, the two countries will uphold the unity and coordination among emerging powers and strive for further advancement of bilateral relations.
