China's Ambassador to Australia ZHANG Junsai Presents Letters of Credence to Australian Governor General Jeffery

On 30 March 2007, the new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Australia, His Excellency Mr. ZHANG Junsai presented Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC. Both parties held friendly talks.

Mr. ZHANG Junsai first passed on to the Governor-General Jeffery the cordial greetings and good wishes from President HU Jintao. Mr. ZHANG said, China-Australia relations have continuously showing positive signs of development. There has been a frequent stream of exchange visits by the leaders of the two countries. With the deepening and enhancing in the economic and trade relationships, there have been new achievements in the strategic cooperation in energy and resources. The exchanges and collaboration in fields such as culture, science and technology, tourism are also under constant expansion. The China-Australia relationships are now faced with new opportunities of growth as this year 2007 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationships between China and Australia. In view of this, the two countries will be holding a series of commemoration and cerebration activities aimed to push forward our bilateral relations. Mr. ZHANG was confident that during his term of office, the friendly cooperation between China and Australia will carry on its momentum of comprehensive development.

The Governor-General Jeffery expressed his thanks to President Hu Jintao for his kind greetings and asked Mr. ZHANG Junsai to pass on his cordial greetings and good wishes to President Hu. He recollected his pleasant memory of visiting China in 2005 when he was accorded a warm reception by China side. He said he was deeply impressed by the growth of China. He indicated that, he was very pleased to observe that the exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia have been experiencing constant progress across a wide range of areas. Australia is willing to offer facilitation and assistance to Ambassador ZHANG in relation to carrying out his duties.

Ambassador ZHANG also attended the welcome luncheon hosted by the Governor-General Jeffery on the same day.
