Australia Students Visit the Chinese Embassy in Canberra
2007/06/27

On June 20, the Chinese Embassy welcomed about 100 students at year 5 and 6 from Claremont College of NSW.

In her remarks, Mrs. Yin, the ambassador's wife, welcomed these students as lovely guests of the embassy and encouraged them to learn not only Chinese but also the Chinese culture, history and geography so that they may be well prepared for their future potential career as China has such close business relations with Australia. Mrs. Zhu, the minister-counselor exchanged souvenirs with the representatives of the college.

During their stay in the embassy, the students watched a TV program on the scenery and its development in China. They put up very impressive performances in Chinese language, such as poem reciting, drama, singing and dancing.  The students were showed around in the Embassy and were deeply impressed by the unique Chinese architecture, the beautiful landscaped gardens and the culture artifacts on display. The children of the embassy staffs also presented their beautiful singing to show their hospitality. We could sense students' happiness from their smiles when they took a group photo.

To enrich their knowledge on oriental culture, the primary branch of Claremont College of NSW organizes its students to visit the Chinese Embassy once in every two years.
