The Chinese Embassy in Australia pays silent tribute to quake victims

The Diplomats and all their family members of the Chinese Embassy in Australia held a solemn ceremony to mourn the victims of the May 12th earthquake measuring 8.0 on Richter Scale in Southwest China, which claimed 34,073 lives. They paid a three-minute silent tribute to the victims at 4:28PM local time in Canberra (which was 2:28PM Beijing Time) on May 19th , 2008.

The Chinese Embassy in Australia also expressed thanks to the Australian public for their sympathies and donations to the Chinese people in quake-stricken areas. By 5:ooPM on May 19th, the total amount of donations sent to the Embassy's Account has risen to A$231,745.17 Australian Dollars.
