The 12th China-Australia Human Rights Dialogue was held in Canberra on 10 February.
The two delegations, led by Liu Jieyi, Assistant Foreign Minister of China, and Gillian Bird, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, briefed each other on the two countries' new achievements in human rights and conducted an in-depth exchange of views on a broad range of topics, including human rights protection measures, economic, social and cultural rights, the rights of ethnic minorities, women, children and the disabled and international human rights cooperation. The dialogue proceeded in a positive and candid atmosphere and has been constructive. The two sides agreed to continue dialogue, exchange and cooperation on human rights on the basis of mutual respect, equal treatment and non-intervention in each other's internal affairs.
