H.E. Mr. Zhang Junsai, the Chinese Ambassador to Australia attended the launch of C Radio FM88 in Canberra on May 8th, 2009. There were over 200 guests attending the launch ceremonies including Mr. Wang Gengnian, President of China Radio International.
When congratulating the launch of FM88 in Canberra, Ambassador Zhang said the bilingual service adds a new channel and new voice to the multicultural capital of Australia. He expressed his belief that the new voice will meet the needs of the multicultural local community and keep the local Chinese community updated about China. This will make it easier for the kids to learn Chinese language. Besides, people from various backgrounds who have a keen interest in China will have a better access to what is happening in China and what the Chinese people are thinking about. Ambassador Zhang noted that wherever we are and in whichever way the world may change, it is important for people to increase mutual understanding and deepen friendship and cooperation.
Mr. Wang, the President of China Radio International also made his remarks and recalled the sound bilateral relations between his team and Australian counterparts. He hopes that C Radio FM88 will play as the colorful bridge in the air between the two peoples and transmit voices of friendship.
ACT Chief Minister also sent a representative and delivered a speech at the launching ceremonies.
