On October 31, 2007, His Excellency Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Australia, and Ms. Lisa Paul, Secretary of the Department of Education, Science and Training of Australia, representing the two governments, signed the Sino-Australia Arrangement on Higher Education Qualifications Recognition. The Arrangement is renewed and valid for three years. The former Arrangement was signed in October, 2003 and expired last year.

Mme Zhu Xiaoyu, Minister-Counsellor for Education of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and senior officials of the Department of Education, Science and Training of Australia were also present on the signing ceremony held at DEST.
