| The Chinese Embassy in Australia Celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China |

On September 29th, 2009, H.E. Mr. Zhang Junsai, the Chinese Ambassador to Australia hosted a grand reception at the Embassy complex celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.
Among 800 attendants , there are local Australians from various circles,the representatives from Chinese-Australian communities and some of the Chinese students studying in Canberra. Also at the reception were Hon. Harry Jenkins MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Martin Ferguson, the Australian Resources Minister, Hon. Jon Stanhope, ACT Chief Minister and other officials from Federal and ACT governments.
In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang summarized the major achievements and progress that China has made along the 60-year development of its economy, social welfare, and the Chinese people's well-being . With gracious passion, Ambassador Zhang recalled that when Chairman Mao proclaimed the founding of the People's Rebuplic of China announcing " The Chinese people have stood up", it has since then greatly inspired the Chinese people. After 60 years of hard work, we can again proudly proclaim that the Chinese people have stood up more steadfastly and with more confidence. Ambassador Zhang said that more than ever is China interdependent with the world, and, China is more than ever sincrely embracing the world. As a responsible big country, China is doing whatever it can and playing its part on a wide range of issues. While China tries hard and manages its own business well in challenging the global finanancial crisis, it is working closely with other countries to do what is necessary for nipping off the crisis. It is striving to contribute to world's financial stability and economic growth and has won worldwide acclaims. Ambassador Zhang pointed out that healthy development of the bilateral relations between China and Australia is important to both countries. So long as we respect each other on the basis of equality, seek common ground while shelving differences and accommodate each otehr's concerns, we will deepen mutual trust and achieve mutual benefits and a win-win situation. Ambassador Zhang reiterated that China, in another historical cycle of sixty years ahead, will remain committed to the road of peaceful development and the opening up strategy of mutual benefit. It will develop itself in a peaceful international environment and in turn, safeguards and promotes world peace and development along with its own progress. Ambassador Zhang feels convinced that a stable, prosperous, and open China is a blessing for the world.
The guests at the reception spoke highly of China's great achievements during the sixty years. They are particularly impressed with its successes since the opening up policy that have been widely acknowledged. They shared their best wishes for a prosperous and progressing China, and for further advancements of cooperation between China and Australia.
