Vice President Xi Jinping Meets with Thai Princess Sirindhorn

On April 5, 2012, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met with visiting Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Xi Jinping said that China and Thailand are close and friendly neighbors and the bilateral relations have been developing with a good momentum. The two sides have maintained frequent exchanges at various levels and the bilateral relationship becomes closer and closer. Vice President Xi said that during his official visit to Thailand in December last year he had felt the sincere friendship between China and Thailand just like "being one family". Such a close relationship between China and Thailand can only be attributed to the care and support of the Thai royal family. China values the deep friendship with the Thai royal family, which has become an inexhaustible motive force for the development of bilateral relations. Xi spoke highly of the positive progress made in cultural, educational, youth and people-to-people exchanges. He said that the princess has insisted on learning the Chinese language and culture over the years, has actively introduced Chinese history, culture and development and changes to the Thai people, and has played a very important role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and Thailand. Princess is a well-deserved "Ambassador of Friendship" and one of the "Top Ten International Friends".

Sirindhorn thanked Vice President Xi for meeting her. Sirindhorn said that every time she visits china she always feels very cordial and very meaningful. She congratulated China on the development and progress in science & technology, education and other areas. She was delighted with the continuous development of friendly cooperative relations between Thailand and China. She was willing to continue her efforts to promote the continuous development of friendly relations between Thailand and China.

Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying and Thai Ambassador to China Wiboon Khusakul were also present at the meeting.
