On May 10, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing. The two sides exchange views on the Iranian nuclear issue.
They believe that the recent dialogue between the six countries and Iran in Istanbul achieved positive result. The Iranian nuclear issue is very complicated. In the next stage, all parties concerned should maintain the positive momentum of dialogue and negotiation, push for progress of the Baghdad dialogue and prevent the situation from going out of control. They should show flexibility and sincerity, remain patient, adhere to the principle of phasing in and reciprocity, work for shared goals and create a good atmosphere for the follow-up dialogue and negotiations. China and Russia will continue to maintain close coordination and guide the Iranian nuclear issue to stay on the track of diplomatic negotiations.
