Jia Qinglin Meets with President of the Romanian Court of Accounts Vacaroiu

On the afternoon of May 14, 2012, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with President of the Romanian Court of Accounts Nicolae Vacaroiu at the Great Hall of the People.

Jia said the two countries and their peoples enjoy profound traditional friendship. He commended the smooth development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago. In particular, since both sides established comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership in 2004, bilateral relations have entered a new stage of development with frequent bilateral high-level contacts, deep and solid political mutual trust and vigorous development of economic and trade cooperation. The traditional friendship has become ever firmer as time goes by. He said the two sides should cherish their friendship, further promote substantial cooperation and turn the advantages of bilateral friendship into tangible results for the benefit of both peoples. Jia pointed out that Romania is an important country in central and eastern Europe. China hopes Romania will make full use of the China-central and eastern Europe cooperation as a new platform and continue to play a positive and constructive role in promoting China's relations with central and eastern European countries as well as China-EU relations, Jia added.

Jia said Vacaroiu is an old and good friend of Chinese people and spoke highly of Vacaroiu's contributions to the development of China-Romania relations. In particular during his term as president of the senate, Vacaroiu has actively promoted friendly exchanges and cooperation between the senate and the CPPCC, according to Jia. Jia said the CPPCC is ready to keep close communication with relevant bodies in Romania and exchange experience with them for the purpose of boosting comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership between both countries.

Vacaroiu said the Romanian people will not forget the support and assistance China has rendered in the past, adding that his country attaches great importance to its relations with China. Romania will work with China to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and further consolidate bilateral friendly relations, Vacaroiu said.
