Ambassador CHENG Jingye Paid a Courtesy Call to Foreign Minister Julie Bishop

H.E. Mr. CHENG Jingye, Chinese Ambassador to Australia, paid a courtesy call to Hon. Julie Bishop MP, Australian Foreign Minister on 13 October.

Ambassador Cheng said China regarded Australia as an important partner in Asia-Pacific region and highly valued its relations with Australia. On the basis of mutual respect, China will continue to work together with the Australian side to further promote China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Minister Bishop welcomed Ambassador Cheng’s assumption of duties and spoke highly of the development of China-Australia relations. She said Australia was committed to enhancing high-level visits and mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation and exchanges in political, economic, trade, education, tourism and other areas.
