Chinese, Vietnamese news agencies hold photo exhibition to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations

    HANOI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam was held here on Thursday.

    The exhibition is jointly organized by Xinhua News Agency and Vietnam News Agency.

    Vietnamese Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Guoxiang and over 200 representatives from the two countries attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

    Tran Mai Huong, President of Vietnam News Agency said at the opening ceremony that the friendship between Vietnam and China is precious as it was forged by late leaders of the two countries. The bilateral relations have been developed in a friendly and cooperative way over the past years.

    Huong said in the past decades, Vietnam News Agency and Xinhua News Agency have maintained close cooperation and helped each other in their respective work. The photo exhibition, an important event in the Vietnam-China's Year of Friendship, will enhance mutual understanding and trust, and educate young peoples of the two countries on traditional friendship.

    Zhang Xiaohua, Standing Deputy General Manager of Xinhua New Agency addressed the opening ceremony that Chinese and Vietnamese people boast traditional friendship.

    In the past 60 years, journalists of Xinhua News Agency and Vietnam News Agency have recorded with their cameras and their pens the efforts of the peoples of the two countries in fighting for independence and constructing the homeland in an objective manner, said Zhang.

    The two news agencies played an important role in promoting friendship between the two countries and enhancing mutual trust, said Zhang, adding that Xinhua News Agency will continue to cooperate with Vietnam and other Vietnamese media in news reporting, human resource and information technology, contributing to the healthy development of China-Vietnam relations.

    The photo exhibition displayed more than 200 photos on friendship and achievements of the two countries in political, economic, cultural, technology and military fields. They are selected from the archives of the two news agencies and some of the photos have never met the public before.

    The 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam will fall on Jan. 18.
