On April 24, 2019, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier Han Zheng met with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of Ethiopia at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Hang Zheng expressed that China and Ethiopia are good friends and good partners enjoying profound political mutual trust. President Xi Jinping held a fruitful meeting with Your Excellency and made important plans for the development of bilateral relations in the next stage. On the basis of the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, the Chinese side stands ready to work with the Ethiopian side to sustain the momentum of high-level exchanges, enhance the alignment of development strategies, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote the in-depth development of friendly bilateral relations. The Chinese side wishes that Ethiopia will continue to make new and greater achievements in its national development and revitalization.

Abiy Ahmed Ali said that China is a true friend and the best partner of the Ethiopian and African people. Ethiopia thanks the Chinese side for its long-term strong support and is willing to learn from China's successful experience in development, actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and expand all-round bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
