Han Zheng Meets with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov of Russia Respectively

On April 25, 2019, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier Han Zheng met in Beijing with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov of Russia respectively.

When meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta, Han Zheng said that in recent years, China-Kenya relations have flourished, with practical cooperation yielding fruitful results. President Xi Jinping and Mr. President held a fruitful meeting this morning and reached important new consensus, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side always views its relations with Kenya from a strategic and long-term perspective and is ready to deepen cooperation with Kenya in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative in accordance with the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, so as to push for continuous development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Uhuru Kenyatta said that he was glad to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China. Cooperation between Kenya and China and between Africa and China has contributed to the economic and social development of Kenya and other African countries. The Kenyan side is willing to further deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in various field covering economy and trade and elevate the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new height. Meanwhile, Kenya also hopes to work with the Chinese side to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

When meeting with Anton Siluanov and holding the Co-chairs' Meeting of the China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee, Han Zheng said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations are at their best in history, with practical cooperation in various fields being deeply advanced. The Chinese side stands ready to work together with the Russian side to well implement the important consensus of the two heads of state on strengthening investment cooperation, further give play to the role of the China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee, strengthen policy coordination, improve communication mechanism, promote enterprises to expand exchanges and cooperation, speed up the implementation of key projects, and promote investment cooperation between China and Russia for new development so as to inject new impetus into the sustained and high-level development of China-Russia relations.

Anton Siluanov expressed that the Russian side spoke highly of the overall coordination and promotion role of the investment cooperation mechanism between the two countries. Russia is willing to jointly promote the implementation of key projects and create new highlights of bilateral investment cooperation.
