On July 31, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai of Thailand held talks and jointly met the press afterwards.

Wang Yi expressed, the Chinese side cherishes the traditional friendship between China and Thailand, and attaches great importance to its relations with Thailand. China is looking forward to enhancing cooperation with the new government of Thailand to push China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for greater development in the new era. China and Thailand need to inherit the special amicable kinship. China welcomes His Majesty the King to pay a state visit to China, and the members of the royal family, leaders of the new government and parliament to pay their visits as well, to renew bilateral friendship, pursue cooperation and share development opportunities. China and Thailand should be the pacesetters of the high-quality development of Belt and Road cooperation. Both countries need to take the tremendous opportunity of upgrading and improvement in bilateral relations, make solid efforts to push forward the construction of the China-Thailand railway and expand innovation cooperation in the sectors of digital economy and 5G communication technology. We need to actively press ahead with the third-party cooperation such as the high-speed railway in Eastern Economic Corridor and smart city as well as play an exemplary role for cooperation between China and other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. China and Thailand should be the pioneers of the in-depth and substantial development of the East Asian regional cooperation. Since Thailand is the ASEAN rotating chair this year, the Chinese side will fully support the Thai side in fulfilling the responsibilities of the ASEAN chair, intensify coordination and cooperation, build consensus, boost confidence and propel China-ASEAN relations for even greater progress.

Don Pramudwinai noted, the Thai side attaches great importance to its relations with China. The new government of Thailand will keep its relations with China consistent and work with the Chinese side to intensify high-level exchanges, promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, expand interconnectivity and expand economic and trade cooperation. Today's China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting goes smoothly and is a complete success with fruitful results. All parties are satisfied with this. As the ASEAN rotating chair this year, the Thai side will make positive contributions to deepening ASEAN-China cooperation and promoting bilateral strategic cooperative partnership.
